ABOUT US:

The SELREC Singers is an adult show choir that is 45-members strong.

Based in the South Euclid-Lyndhurst area, the organization has male and

female members who travel from as far as north as Mentor and as far south

as Bainbridge. The group celebrated their 40th anniversary in 2008 with the

spring show “Forty and Fabulous”.

In 2009, The SELREC Singers took a sentimental Journey” crooning

your favorite tunes - 42nd Street, Puttin' on the Ritz, In the Mood, and more...

all part of it's 41st annual June extravaganza “Radio Hour: Music of

the 30s and 40s.”

Now, Step up! Step up, to the "CIRQUE du SELREC Singers: A Musical

Adverture Under the Big Top."  Hear and see musical acts like you've never

experienced before!  Come join the "Circus Parade."  Watch animals be tamed

until "The Lion Sleeps Tonight."  Be awestruck by "The Man on the Flying

Trapeze."  Join us at Brush High School Performing Arts Center on June 17th,

18th or 19th, 2010 for the show!

Our talented pianist Ann Michael accompanies us through-out the year as

we perform all types of music, including pop, jazz, swing, classic, country and

Broadway show tunes.  Our holiday repertoire includes secular selections

and seasonal favorites.

*************************************************************************************

The group began as a women’s organization back in 1967.  One of the

founding members directed the group then called “The Mothers Singers” as

part of the South Euclid-Lyndhurst Welcome Wagon.  When the South

Euclid-Lyndhurst Recreation Department stepped in to help defray expenses,

the name “The SELREC Singers” was born.

Bringing good music to our community has always been an important part of

the Singers’ mission.  Our “Singout” schedule has taken us from retirement

communities across Ohio to the Allen Theater in Downtown Cleveland ,

where we were selected to perform for the grand opening celebration of the

Idea Center at Playhouse Square.  Our performance venues have included

weddings, luncheons, dinners, awards ceremonies, meetings, country club

events, and summer concert series.  Our spring season culminates each year

with a “June Extravaganza”…a theme-based show performed at the Brush

Performing Arts Center for nearly one-thousand people.  Past themes have

included “Singin’ in Sin City”, “Hollywood”, “School Daze”, “Camp

Weewannasing” and “The Winner Is…” featuring award-winning songs from

television, Broadway and the movies.  The June show always includes

elaborate sets, creative costumes and show-stopping choreography.
